Who I Am

Patricia Johnston (AMusA, LMusA)
is an experienced singer , teacher and Adjudicator.
Patricia was trained in bel canto style by the renowned Madame Mathy. Her other teachers were Elsie Findlay OBE, Max Speed and Susan Falk. More recently she worked extensively with US voice scientist Jo Estill on all aspects of voice production from Opera to broadway belt. This has helped in teaching rock and the contemporary voice.
As a young singer Patricia won most NSW Aria Awards as well as Music Theatre , Oratorio, Art Song and Lieder Competitions. She is now asked to adjuicate at many Eisteddfods.
A versatile singer in recital,opera, operetta and oratorio she has worked with regional opera companies as well as Opera Australia ,Opera Ensemble, International Opera and John Cadman Cruises.
In Music Theatre Patricia sang the role of Sister Margareta in the touring company of "The Sound of Music". In the Melbourne production of "The Phantom of the Opera" Patricia understudied the role of Carlotta.
Patricia has a scientific background and is always interested in research.She is a member of the US NATS organisation ,which is the leading scientific body on voice production.
